The Elevator or the Flight of Stairs?

The Elevator or the Flight of Stairs?

In a growing culture of immediacy and requiring that instant solution, often we may look for the elevator to take us up and away from our problems.

Sometimes that walk, music, new book, conversation with a friend or doing something different may certainly help in the short term, or even distract us in a beneficial way. Such activities can be great in any self care kit bag of tools.

Often though, for longer lasting changes, it may on occasion warrant taking the flight of stairs. Yes, more effort, perhaps over a few weeks and going that bit deeper within ourselves and maybe resolving earlier memories from childhood or difficulties that we have never really addressed.

The journey may be slower but richer in providing us with the clarity and understanding to be able to move on, process things and have a deeper sense of healing. We may then be able to make choices that will serve us better in the longer term.

So if you are at that cross-roads yourself and need somebody to walk the stairs with you, then talking to a qualified therapist may well be an option to consider.
